Simply Snowboarding Coaching Philosophy
If you’ve ever left a lesson thinking,“That was fun” but also“I’m not sure what actually changed”, you’re not alone.
A lot of riders don’t need more time on snow. They need clarity.
At Simply Snowboarding, our approach is built around one idea: stop copying and start understanding. When you understand what you’re doing, why it works, and how to repeat it, confidence stops being a mystery. It becomes a result.
Our promise
You’ll leave sessions with:
one clear focus(not ten tips)
a simple way to practise it
feedback you can actually use
a plan you can take into your next session
The problem with “just follow me” coaching
Most riders stall for a simple reason: they’re trying hard, but practising the wrong thing.
Generic lessons often create three common issues:
Too many tips at once (nothing sticks)
No clear cause-and-effect (you can’t self-correct)
No continuity (every session feels like starting over)
If you prefer learning with structure, that can be a frustrating way to improve.
That’s why we coach differently.
Our philosophy: simplify the What, Why, and How
You’ll hear us talk about this a lot:
What is happening in your riding (the observable behaviour)
Why it’s happening (the cause)
How to change it (one clear action you can repeat)
Snowboarding is full of “feel”. And feel can be misleading.
Understanding gives you something better than guesswork: control.
The Simply framework: Watch → Understand → Build → Prove → Plan
1) Watch (diagnose first)
We start by watching you ride. Not to judge but to understand.
We look for the few key patterns that create most of your results (and most of your frustration). For many riders, that’s things like posture, movement patterns, and accuracy.
2) Understand (make it make sense)
We explain what’s happening in plain English so you know what you’re changing and why it matters.
This is where we simplify the what, why and how so you can repeat the right movement.
3) Build (one focus at a time)
Instead of throwing ten tips at you, we choose one priority. That’s how you get visible progress quickly and keep it.
4) Prove (structured reps + useful feedback)
Progress doesn’t come from doing more laps. It comes from repeating the right thing, with the right feedback.
We build short practice loops so you can:
try it
feel it
adjust it
repeat it
And when we use video analysis, you get something even more valuable: proof.
Proof builds confidence. It also makes your progress measurable.
5) Plan (takeaway for next time)
A great session shouldn’t end when you leave the slope.
You should leave with:
a clear takeaway
a simple focus for next time
a way to practise it
That’s how you build momentum across weeks and seasons.
Why we focus on piste performance
Piste performance is where most riders spend most of their time and where confidence is either built or broken.
When you can grip, control speed, and shape turns on groomers, you unlock:
more flow
more consistency
more confidence when conditions change
the foundation for steeps and variable terrain
It’s not about being flashy. It’s about being solid.
Who this is for
Our coaching is built for riders who:
already snowboard
want more consistency and confidence
want to understand cause and effect (not just copy drills)
value progress they can repeat
prefer calm, focused coaching
If that sounds like you, you’ll fit right in.
Ready to ride with more confidence?
Choose the format that fits you best:
One-to-One Coaching for personalised, high-focus progression
Group Coaching (max 4 riders) for a supportive environment with plenty of individual feedback
Either way, we’ll help you understand your riding so confidence and performance become the natural outcome.
