OPEN GROUP COACHING

WHAT IS OPEN GROUP COACHING

Open Group Coaching is a 2 hour social snowboarding session for riders who want to meet like-minded people, ride together, and progress in a relaxed, supportive environment.

We keep it simple: we’ll agree the what, explain the why, and coach the how - so you can ride with more flow and confidence without overthinking it.

You’ll join a small group of up to 4 riders. At the start, we’ll agree a shared goal for the session as a group, then coach you through it in a way that keeps things fun, friendly, and flowing.

WHY CHOOSE OPEN GROUP COACHING

If you want the social side of snowboarding and a bit of structure to help you improve, Open Group Coaching is for you:

  • Meet new people without it feeling awkward

  • Ride with others who want to improve and enjoy the session

  • Agree a group goal on the day (no pressure to “pick the perfect session” in advance)

  • Get guidance that helps you ride better, with a relaxed, social vibe

HOW IT WORKS

Every Open Group Coaching session follows a simple structure:

  • Quick introductions: A friendly start so everyone feels comfortable.

  • Group goal setting: We agree what the group wants from the session (for example: more flow, more confidence, smoother turns, or more grip).

  • Coached riding: You’ll ride together, with clear pointers and simple progressions to help the whole group improve.

  • Video moments (when useful): Short clips to help you see what’s happening and make quick changes.

  • Wrap-up: You’ll leave with a few clear takeaways you can use straight away.

WHO ITS FOR

Open Group Coaching is ideal for riders who:

  • Want to meet like-minded snowboarders and build confidence riding with others

  • Prefer a social session over a deep technical deep-dive

  • Want a relaxed way to improve without the intensity of private coaching

  • Are happy working towards a shared group goal

Prerequisites: Basic control - linked turns, stopping, and safe button lift use.

THE PRIVATE GROUP PHILOSOPHY

We believe snowboarding should feel welcoming. Not everyone wants a high-pressure coaching session - sometimes you just want to ride with good people, build confidence, and get a few simple changes that make a big difference.

Open Group Coaching is about connection, community, and steady progress.

No pressure. No intensity. No overthinking.

Just a great session with like-minded riders.

MEET YOUR COACH CHRIS

When you love snowboarding as much as Chris does, you want others to experience that same joy and progression. That's what inspired him to create Simply Snowboarding.

After more than a decade on the slopes (since 2014), including three full winter seasons in the mountains, He's learnt that the path to better riding isn't about mysterious techniques or complicated instructions - it's about breaking down barriers and making progression accessible to everyone.

As a BASI Level 3 ISIA qualified instructor, Chris has developed a deep understanding of how people learn and progress.

His approach is refreshingly straightforward:

Simple. Fun. Stress-free.

Chris has seen too many riders get stuck when they hear vague instructions like "just do this" without understanding the 'what,' 'why,' and 'how.'

That's why Chris focuses on:

  • Breaking down complex techniques into digestible steps

  • Creating a supportive, judgment-free environment

  • Providing clear, actionable guidance

  • Allowing time for practice and consolidation

  • Using video analysis for visual learning and progress tracking

When he's not on the snow, you'll find Chris maintaining his fitness through running and strength work at the gym.
